Recycling gets a reprieve The three Santa Cruz County Supervisors said last month that they don’t want to demolish the county’s recycling program, even though it has run in the red for the past two years, costing about $41,000 a year more than any revenues it brings in. County Manager Carlos Rivera told the supervisors that the loss in the recycling fund is serious and a solution must be found. He said that for the past two years, the money has been transferred to cover the loss from the landfill reserve fund, a long-term savings account that will be required…
